Math Tutoring

Thanks to a PSF grant, Carrboro Elementary extended learning beyond the school day with small-group math tutoring for students in grades 3–5. Meeting three times a week, the program helped students deepen their understanding of math concepts and build confidence before end-of-grade testing. Last spring, PSF funding—combined with Title I support—allowed the school to expand to nine tutoring groups, including sessions tailored for English language learners. The results were remarkable: 84% of the 64 participating students passed the state math exam, and teachers reported students were more engaged and eager to tackle math challenges in class.
