Teacher Supply Store Helps Over 900 CHCCS Educators
When Chapel Hill-Carrboro teachers headed back to school this year, they had a little extra help from their neighbors.
More than 900 CHCCS teachers received approximately $50,000 in classroom supplies through the 2026 Teacher Supply Store, a partnership between the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation (PSF) and East Chapel Hill Rotary. Teachers selected essentials such as binders, glue sticks, dry erase markers, and planning calendars, helping ease the cost of supplies that educators often purchase themselves.
For Carrboro Elementary third-grade teacher Courtney Limerick, the store is a meaningful reminder that she isn’t doing it alone. “I’m beyond grateful for the support of my community and the Public School Foundation,” she said. “The school store is an amazing resource to help supply my classroom each year; it has truly made an impact on my transition back to school.”
A Chapel Hill-Carrboro tradition since 2007, the Teacher Supply Store is made possible by local partners and volunteers. East Chapel Hill Rotary has been there from the beginning, providing financial backing and volunteers. UNC Health, Staples, and other businesses donate supplies, while more than 100 community volunteers help set up and run the store.
The result is more than a supply store. It is neighbors helping neighbors and a community showing teachers just how much they are valued.
