The Chapel Hill High School and Lincoln High School alumni lived through a period of racial divide between whites and African Americans. Annually, the alumni will select two CHCCS graduating seniors who demonstrate efforts to build bridges across racial lines to receive a one time award.
Student applicant eligibility requirements:
- Currently enrolled as a Chapel Hill-Carrboro high school senior in good standing and on track to graduate in the current year
- Student must show evidence of activities to build bridges across racial lines
- Two letters of recommendation from teacher, counselors, coaches, administrators, supervisors, or other community member who can attest to the student’s service and dedication to build bridges across racial lines
- Recipients will be asked to attend the LHS/CHHS steering committee annual awards meeting and dinner
